The construction sector, one of the locomotives of the Turkish economy, continues to increase its importance in the country’s economy and development.
While the construction sector has been drawing attention as the fastest growing sector in recent years, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) has announced the construction turnover and production indices for the first quarter of 2014.
According to TURKSTAT data, turnover and production in the construction sector increased, while construction turnover index in terms of the construction sector from national capital increased by 16.1 percent and construction production index by 1.1 percent and 1.6 percent respectively in the first quarter of this year.
In the international arena, the calendar-adjusted construction turnover index, which means the removal of working-day differences due to weekend breaks, official and moving holidays between the previous period and the current period in the sector that has grown again, is the same as the previous quarter in the first quarter of 2014 Again up 16.1 percent.
Construction turnover index, which was 32 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, achieved a very high growth rate. Construction production index increased by 1.1 percent compared to the previous quarter, while construction production index increased by 6.1 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
